Mike Ennis Photos:  Batch 1 .   Batch 2  .  Batch 3

109 shooters, (121 before the rain and first day of shooting, 12 of you missed out!)
8 Stages, 5 Bays!, 17,000+ rounds, and done by mid afternoon on Saturday.
We pulled off the biggest pistol match on Maryland's Eastern Shore thanks to our shooters, our members, and you who love the game and the chase of practical shooting.  Thank you for being a part of Summer Classic 4!

We all got a little excited back in January when in a mere 10 days when we opened sign-up that we hit 100 shooters signed up.  That was extremely rad and with your help we rose to the occasion.  Our staff for the event jumped from 21 to 28 this year, thanks to some very welcome additions from nearby.  Running a full 5 squads for both days of the match went off great and each day only needed 5 hours to complete the stages each day.

Our Friday shootoff was for the top 5 shooters thus far that day.  We raced on an El-Prez stage, and Mike Ennis Jr came out on top.
On Saturday, the Main Shootoff was for the top 4 Iron Sight Shooters, and the top 8 Optics Shooters.  Ken Rose won the Irons matchups, followed by Kalib Ehrisman and Nick Milan.  The Optics Shootoff was won by Mike Ennis Jr, followed by Andrew Margolin, and Larry Kouns!

The best adjustment day-of was turning the Shootoff from a 4 man event to an 8 man shoot-off for the Optic Division.  That made for some seriously good head to head racing!

On Behalf of the Salisbury Gun Club, and of the Pistol Committee, I can only say that we are thrilled with the experience of pulling off our third large Pistol Match!  Thank you to all who came to compete, thank you to all who came to work and make the event run smooth, and thank you to all of our sponsors, supporters, and friends around!  The shooting sports community is truly an awesome group of people that we love to be with.

There is no better compliment to hear, as an event organizer, that high performing and highly regarded shooters tell you that you run a great match, and that they intentionally set their annual calendar of shooting to include the SGC Summer Classic.  Not only that, but we had a new-to-matches shooter with us, a brother of one of the regional pro's, who selected us specifically to help intro them to the sport.  We are indebted to the shooters who love the sport and who want to shoot with us!!

We had a stellar group of 74 shooters.  2 Friday Squads of 27 shooters shot their stages on Friday, leaving 47 shooters to compete on Saturday.

Out of the 74, over 30 of the shooters were gun club members.  We had guest shooters from Delaware, Bridgeville Rifle & Pistol Club, Pennsylvania, and the western shore of Maryland!  Thanks to our farthest flung shooters for visiting us on Delmarva!

The Match Director, Ben Jorden, put a TON of work into making this event happen, and we are indebted to his acumen in running such a fun and exciting event.  Thanks to his efforts, we had enough door prizes for ALL SHOOTERS!  What a treat.

When we weren't shooting the 5 stages of fire, there were two side games, a Plate Rack Race, and an El Prez Drill.  Two of our many sponsors, Patriot Firearms and Atlantic Tactical had self defense video simulators set up at the range for fun diversions.  Not to mention Shore Home Construction was onsite sharing their services.

The LWRC Rifle Raffle went off great, that was a fun draw.  We were also fortunate enough to give away two Stoeger STR-9 pistols!

The 50/50 was won by one of our club members, and lunch was Jimmy John's!!

The day went quickly, we did stages 1 and 2 and the warmup in only 2.5 hours, right on time for lunch, and then the last two stages only took 90 minutes for the 39 shooters!

This event went off great and I could go on and on, but will save some more acknowledgments for later.

See you next year at June 15 2024!
