August & September USPSA Pistol events has been a clean sweep for Mike Ennis JR!
https://practiscore.com/clubs/salisbury_gun_club The pistol events at SGC have switched to the Sport of USPSA, and it's been a great hit. In August, Jason Passarell started hosting a once monthly USPSA Thursday night (4th thurs) match. The club's pistol events have been having a great year. We had our first USPSA Match on July 25th, a special CLASSIFIER Match, which included enough standard stages to get our shooters ranked/classified nationally in USPSA's system. We have Master Class Shooters, A Class, B, C, and D Class shooters. we had a great group with 4 squads with 36 shooters total; with a healthy bunch from across the bay!
Our August thru Oct pistol shoots will be USPSA. And we're thinking of how to add more night USPSA events. On July 30th we had a fun batch of 27 shooters at our Novice AR Match. A Simple setup of 2 stages and a healthy bunch of new shooters joined some of the old salts! Things are going well and the next AR Match is 2Gun in Late August! July 25 winners, Mike Ennis in LO, Dave Hawkins in CO, Nick Dukes in Open, Logan H in Limited, Phil Cathell in L10, Doug Carlton in PCC, and Kris O. in Single Stack! Top Senior Tony Rudy, Top Super Senior Marty Rogers! July 30 AR Winners, Ben Jorden with AR, Phil Cathell with PCC, Mike Konopik with Rimfire, and Tony Rudy with Heavy!!! Top Senior Tony. Thank you to all who came to compete, thank you to all who came to work and make the event run smooth, and thank you to all of our sponsors, supporters, and friends around! The shooting sports community is truly an awesome group of people that we love to be with. There is no better compliment to hear, as an event organizer, that high performing and highly regarded shooters tell you that you run a great match, and that they intentionally set their annual calendar of shooting to include the SGC Summer Classic. Not only that, but we had a new-to-matches shooter with us, a brother of one of the regional pro's, who selected us specifically to help intro them to the sport. We are indebted to the shooters who love the sport and who want to shoot with us!! We had a stellar group of 74 shooters. 2 Friday Squads of 27 shooters shot their stages on Friday, leaving 47 shooters to compete on Saturday. We had over $1,000 in door prizes to give away and Kendall Firearms gave the event a CCW Walther PPS Pistol, which was a part of the side game. The more people played the side game, the more entries they got in a random draw for the gun! We are truly indebted to our members and friends who helped make this event a success. We had 22 amazing staff volunteers work their butts off to make this a success. Again, we hope you had as much fun as we did. See you Next Year June 19-20, 2026!!! We had a taste of summer weather with a high past 70! The weather made for a beautiful day for shooting, we had a first-ever 4 squads at a Saturday monthly match, and we totaled 44 shooters!
The pistol event schedule is taking a rest over the next 8 weeks, just 2 bowling pins on the April 3rd_Sat (for Easter), and May's 3rd Sat is also a bowling pin match. Next GPA match Sat May 31st. We had a great day with 27 shooters. We had 4 stages and a warm-up. We're looking forward to warmer weather and continuing the shooting year.
One of our shooters asked for info on the par times. The sport of (most) of our current pistol events is "galactic pistol alliance". Think of it as a blend between IDPA & USPSA. https://galacticpistolalliance.com/ GPA Par Times GPA has a calculation for determining how much time a "master class shooter" should take for a course of fire. It's math adds up like this: 1 second draw, 1.5 second per reload required, 0.4s per shot, 2s for each position change, 0.3s for style shots (headshots, and/or one handed, and 2s for each "complexity factor". See below. Then they take the par time and divide it by your stage score. Or total Match Score vs Total Match Par Time. GPA Classifications: Platinum is 99% or higher Gold is 78%-98% Silver is 54%-77% Bronze is 25%-53% PewPewter is up to 25%. So today's match had: stage 1 Step in Time is a par 18.1 seconds due to: 1 Strings, 1x 1.5 Draw, 1x 1.0 Reload, 2 Position Changes, 24 shots, 0 Style shots, & 1 Complex Factors, (barrel unload start) stage 2 March Madness is a par 18.9 seconds due to: 1 Strings, 1x 1.5 Draw, 1x 1.0 Reload, 4 Position Changes, 21 shots, 0 Style shots, & 0 Complex Factors, () stage 3 Barrel Run is a par 29.9 seconds due to: 2 Strings, 2x 1.5 Draw, 1x 1.0 Reload, 6 Position Changes, 36 shots, 0 Style shots, & 0 Complex Factors, () stage 4 On Your Left is a par 12.4 seconds due to: 1 Strings, 1x 1.5 Draw, 0x 1.0 Reload, 3 Position Changes, 12 shots, 2 Style shots, & 0 Complex Factors, (2xWHO) stage 5 Double 4-aces is a par 8.2 seconds due to: 2 Strings, 2x 1.5 Draw, 2x 1.0 Reload, 0 Position Changes, 8 shots, 0 Style shots, & 0 Complex Factors, (.)
